The Echo modem is a rugged, full duplex Cellular Digital Packet Data (CDPD) modem that provides wireless transport capabilities for rugged applications. The Echo modem combines years of experience in radio systems, low-cost manufacturing, inexpensive subscriber devices and CDPD technology to create a new, powerful yet affordable wireless modem. CDPD or Cellular Digital Packet Data is a wireless, public access, packet data standard designed to operate over existing analog cellular phone systems. Since it is designed to use existing cellular phone systems CDPD provides a large coverage area, low service pricing and fast data transfer. Additional benefits include built-in encryption for security; a billing structure which charges for message size rather than on-line time; forward error correction methods that reduce the effects of noise and interference on the airlink and no long distance charges. Communications is achieved to the site over the Internet or through an internal Intranet. Modem communication is achieved using the UDP or TCP/IP protocol.
The Echo modem is ideally suited for all fixed and mobile Industrial and Commercial Applications, including Telemetry, SCADA, Public Safety, Dispatch, Field Service, Financial Transaction Processing, and Security. The embedded TCP/IP stack enables virtually any type of remote device to access the CDPD network.
The Echo modem can be a low-cost replacement for existing landline, private radio and circuit-switched cellular installations. |
